AnnotationA pilot study compares the physical, psychosocial and psychological problems - i.e. quality of life - of 59 cancer patients with a control group of 59 people who did not have cancer and who functioned independently in daily activity. The cancer patients were being treated at an oncological medical centre in northern Israel. Testing by means of the CARES and the SDS scales revealed that the cancer patients' quality of life problems were worse that those of the control group, although no statistically significant differences between the two groups were found in terms of depression.
