Annotation | These National Minimum Standards and Regulations have been prepared in response to extensive consultation, and are published in accordance with section 23 of the Care Standards Act 2000 (CSA). They apply from 1 April 2002, with the repeal of the Registered Homes Act 1984 and the Nursing Homes and Mental Nursing Homes Regulations 1984. The Act provides for a Director of Private and Voluntary Care within the National Care Standards Commission (NCSC); it also requires health care providers to ensure the provision of quality care, and to be accountable for the care provided on their premises. The National Minimum Standards apply to establishments such as acute hospitals and hospices. The standards cover: information provision; quality of treatment and care; management and personnel; complaints management; premises, facilities and equipment; risk management procedures; records and information management; and research. Also included is the text of the Private and Voluntary Health Care (England) Regulations 2001 (Statutory Instruments 2001, no 3968). (RH). |
