Annotation | This study examined follow-through with occupational therapy feeding recommendations, as documented in the care plans of 30 residents of five long-term care facilities. During the midday meal, residents were observed, to determine the level of follow-through with recommendations. A significantly lower follow-through rate was found between the number of recommendations documented in the residents' charts and the number of recommendations that were implemented completely by the staff. In this study, the overall rate of complete follow-through with feeding recommendations was 41%. Of the four types of recommendations, follow-through was most frequent for environmental adaptations, followed by adaptive equipment, set-up and positioning. (KJ/RH). |
