Annotation | The Caldicott review of personally identifiable information in 1997 recommended that "Guardians" of personal information be created to safeguard and govern the uses made of confidential information within NHS organisations. This circular covers the extending of Caldicott "Guardians" to Councils with Social Services Responsibilities (CSSRs - i.e. social service departments, SSDs). It draws attention to the Data Protection Act 1998 as the key legislation covering the security and confidentiality of personal information. (RH). |
