Annotation | The anticholinesterase inhibitor (AChEI) class of drugs provides a major contribution to the therapeutic treatment of dementia, and is now endorsed by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE). A brief evidence-based review is made, which finds good evidence to support the use of AChEIs, and perhaps vitamin E. Oestrogen and anti-inflammatory agents show possibility, but there is not enough evidence to support routine use. (RH). |
