AnnotationThese Regulations are made under the Care Standards Act 2000 and apply to England only. They provide for the registration and inspection of establishments and agencies (including care homes) by National Care Standards Commission (NCSC). These new arrangements replace the regulatory system provided for in relation to residential care homes and nursing homes by the Registered Homes Act 1984. The Regulations cover: registered persons and their fitness to manage homes; the conduct of care homes, in particular the health and welfare of service users; suitability of premises and fire precautions; the management of care homes, including a system for reviewing and improving quality of care. Schedules outline the information and other records required to be kept by care homes. (RH).
