AnnotationNorth East Lincolnshire is a small unitary authority centred on Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham, and formed in 1996 from part of the former Humberside County Council. The purpose of the Joint Review is to assess the extent to which people in North East Lincolnshire are well served by their social services. It finds that the Authority meets some people's needs well. There was a 41% response to the users' and carers' postal questionnaire; overall, 83% of these users rated services as "good" or "excellent". Services to older people have improved, but still need further development. However, a good range of rehabilitation and prevention services for older people has been developed in partnership with health (the BRIJ Group of Users and Carers is given as an example of good practice), and there is an increasingly intensive home care service to support them in the community. Priorities for action identified in the review include: improving access to services; developing a carers' strategy; ensuring the delivery of the right mix of home care services; and improving working with ethnic minority communities.
