Annotation | How can we help older people to tackle the barriers to learning they face? How can we ensure that learning opportunities offer older people what they want? And are we really sure that we really know what they want? To help answer these questions, seminar presentations explored some learning activities under way in England: the Keeping Active Project (West Berkshire); Little Acorn Community Development Project (Irwell Valley Housing Association sheltered housing scheme, Salford); the Play's the Thing (Fircroft College, Women and Theatre Company, Birmingham Health Authority and Dudley Priory Health); and Putting the Growth into Growing Older (North Tyneside). Also covered in this report are the role of the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and recommendations for good practice arising from the seminar. (RH). |
