AnnotationThe purpose of the Joint Review is to assess the extent to which people in Wirral are well served by their social services. Wirral provides social services that are valued by local people, but not all services are to the same standard. 17% of the population is aged 65+. Whilst 77% of respondents to the users' and carers' questionnaire found services "good" or "excellent", criticisms were also voiced. The Review notes an over-reliance on residential care, but that all agencies in the area are working to develop improved community-based services for people in their own homes - given as one of the priorities for action by the review.
