Annotation | The Expert Group's remit was to provide an overview and description of the major health problems of older people in Scotland. The report describes the "journey of care" in older people's health, from staying well and living at home, to problems with delayed discharge from hospital. The overview of major health problems covers cancer, coronary heart disease and stroke, mental health, and falls and falls prevention. The Expert Group consulted widely, and outlines the findings from its investigation into allegations of negative discrimination on the grounds of age (ageism) in NHS Scotland. Examples of good practice and recommendations are made throughout the report. (RH). |
