Annotation | Innovative firms are latching on to the fact there is a growing market for products and systems that boost older people's independence. But do they work? This article reports on the first year of work by the New Technology in Elderly Care (NTEC) project involving the London Boroughs of Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham, and Charing Cross Hospital's Department of Medicine for the Elderly. The project has borrowed or bought equipment from various manufacturers, and conducted tests in a range of settings. (RH). |
