Annotation | Primary care has a crucial role to play in promoting health awareness and tackling the causes of ill health among older people. This article argues that health promotion and prevention should be seen from a broader public health perspective. Indeed, recent developments within the National Health Service (NHS) and social care - particularly the National Service Framework for Older People (NSF) - have put these issues high on the healthcare agenda, and there is much that general practitioners (GPs) can do to make a difference to their older patients.
