Annotation | Data from the 1995 American Housing Survey were used to analyse the effects of tenure and changes in tenure by older home-owners and renters on changes in housing quality and housing costs. Significant effects between homeowners and renters were noted for the demographic variables of gender, race, education, income, and family size. In general, though, there were no significant effects noted with the quality deficit index between homeowners and renters. For those moving house, homeowners who became renters were more likely to experience a perceived decline in housing quality than other categories of movers. (RH). |
