AnnotationTelecare is the remote provision of care and medical services to people in their own homes using information and communication technology (ICT). Based on an analysis of the barriers, risks, challenges and opportunities afforded to care providers by telecare, this report considers the associated social, economic, technical and policy issues. The study identifies: user needs of telecare services; the scale and scope of the potential UK market; the likely costs of care provision and savings from the implementation of telecare; and inhibitors to future developments of telecare. The study was funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) through the "EQUAL in the Built Environment" Programme in collaboration with the Anchor Trust. (RH).
