Annotation | The efficacy of a postal health survey which included the Clock Completion Test (CCT) to screen older people living at home previously undiagnosed for dementia of the Alzheimer's type (DAT) was tested. The Short Blessed Test (SBT) and doctor's diagnosis of probable AD using National Institute of Neurological and Communicable Disorders and Stroke - Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association criteria were used to test the CCT's sensitivity and specificity. The response rate to the postal survey was 63%. Indeed, the particular tests carried out may be better suited for use in an office setting, because of a poor response rate by those with dementia.
