Annotation | This study provides evidence, from the US National Health Interview Survey Supplements on Aging (SOA) for 1984 and 1994 (totals of 7,541 and 9,447 age 70+ respectively), of an overall improvement in the health status of older Americans. Of particular note are significant increases for both men and women in the proportion of those participating in certain social activities and regular exercise. However, there is inconsistency in the trends for different disability measures and for population sub-groups. (RH). |
