Population review of 2000 England and Wales | Author(s) | Cal Ghee |

Pages | pp 7-14 |
Keywords | Demography. |
Annotation | The main features of the population of England and Wales in 2000 are described. Where 2000 figures have not been produced, data for the latest available year are given. Although the number of those aged 85+ has been growing, as has their proportion of the total population, their numbers are expected to drop slightly in the next few years because of low birth rates during the First World War. Throughout the article, comparisons are made between current statistics and those for 100 years ago. (RH). |
