Annotation | People with dementia have often played a passive role in the investigation of their condition. Contributors look at ways of redressing the balance and involving them in the research process. Contributions in Part 1 consider the ethical and practical issues of involvement, while Part 2, on the views of people with dementia, asks whether individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD) should take part in research, and whether that research alters anything. Chapters in Part 3 each give details of the different methods used to ascertain views of those with dementia: focus groups; face-to-face interviews; telephone interviews; and video observation. Finally, the difficult process of interviewing those whose first language is not English examines the needs of South Asians with dementia. (RH). |
