AnnotationThe purpose of the joint review is to assess objectively how well local people in the City of London are being served by their social services. This review finds that most people are well served by the Corporation of London, in part because the Authority has a small resident population, and is able to fund large packages of care which support children and adults to remain living at home. While there is a commitment to providing high quality services, case studies cite problems with community care risk management. Examples of good practice include an holistic approach to hospital social work at St Bartholomew's Hospital (Barts). Key issues for attention include being able to measure and monitor performance, making optimum use of resources, and focusing on people's needs. (RH).
