Healthcare research agendas for older people an international comparison | Author(s) | Brenda Roe |
Journal title | Nursing Older People, vol 13, no 9, December 2001 |
Pages | pp 14-16 |
Keywords | Health services ; Services ; Research Reviews ; Comparison ; United States of America ; International ; United Kingdom. |
Annotation | Older people, especially those aged 85+, are more likely to require informal care or formal healthcare and services, to enable them to continue living in their own homes or to move into assisted living or skilled care. This article uses US data to suggest that research into older people's care and health systems should not ignore the individual's experience of them. This work was undertaken while the author was an international visiting scholar in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems, School of Aging, University of Washington, Seattle.
