Annotation | The economic circumstances of rural older Americans and the economic impacts of rural elders on the communities in which they live are examined. US rural counties are defined as those that are not part of a metropolitan statistical area. Based on this definition and using 1990 Census data, 2,276 out of 3,097 US counties are rural. (RH). |
