Annotation | One of the dominant findings from rural ageing research conducted over the last several decades is that services are neither sufficiently available nor accessible to meet the needs of rural older people. A list of generalisations developed in the early 1990s summarises what was known about the state of rural community-based services in the US. This article reviews reasons for gaps in rural services and the limited provision in housing. Successful rural service strategies are outlined. (RH). |
