Annotation | This account describes a women who was referred aged 54 to a adult psychiatry services for the treatment of a post-traumatic stress reaction. It describes her diagnosis and treatment for PTSD, and subsequent testing and diagnosis of dementia. It highlights the difficulty of picking up people referred to adult services with psychiatric symptoms who are actually showing signs of early onset dementia. A brief literature review bears out the link between PTSD and dementia. (RH). |
