Annotation | "Person-centred care" or patient-centred care are terms widely used in the dementia care field. Education and training are commonly cited as a means of enabling care staff to implement this approach to dementia care practice. This article argues for the adoption of student-centred learning techniques. It presents an evaluation of a person-centred dementia care education programme in which theories of adult learning and student-centred learning were used, with the aim of encouraging participants to implement the ideas discussed into their care practice. Participants' views of the programme, obtained from verbal feedback and formal course evaluation forms, suggest that educationalists wishing to advocate a person-centred approach to dementia care would benefit from drawing explicitly on theories of adult learning and student-centred learning.
