AnnotationA sample of 171 outpatients drawn from the outpatient clinic of a geriatric hospital in Paris during one month, answered a standardized questionnaire and an extensive interview. Subjects' "personologic identity" (self-rated personality) was assessed through 34 visual analogic scales drawn from Cattell's cite personality sphere. Compared to non-consumers, on personologic characteristics, the 79 psychotropic users continue to see and describe themselves in a specific way, accentuating traits linked to anxiety. This phenomenon concerns mainly subjects taking their medication and not for sleep aid. Taking into account this aspect of personologic identity may be relevant for a practical approach to the prevention of psychotropic drug abuse. (KJ/RH).
