| Annotation | Care Direct, the Department of Health's new initiative will provide an internet and telephone portal giving advice to older people on social care, community health, housing and benefits. This article reports on pilot projects in the south-west, and on whether the service will reduce pressures on staff, which has not necessarily been the case with NHS Direct, on which Care Direct is modelled.
