AnnotationThe purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well people in Warrington are being served by their social services. Previously a district of Cheshire, Warrington became a unitary authority in April 1998, since when prospects for social services have looked promising, with most people well-served. The review notes good joint working relationships and some joint provision in services for older people. There is progress in promoting independence for older people, and in dealing with gaps in intensive home care, daycare and residential care for older people with mental health problems. Innovative support services are available to some carers, including early dementia services; carer assessments are not yet routinely carried out. The review identifies priorities for action for older people's services, some of which relate to implementation of the National Service Framework (NSF), and include establishing a multi-disciplinary Rapid Response Team, and reviewing the effectiveness of older people's teams on progress with rehabilitation.
