AnnotationThis is an introduction to provide health care practitioners with basic information on palliative care and nutritional needs, to help them better understand the dying process and simple concepts that can make the patient more comfortable. It provides direction for nutrition professionals who interact with family members, caregivers, guardians and friends of dying patients. Nutrition is a component part of end-of-life care. It is crucial for the registered dietitian to consider what is happening within the body, and how best to nourish the patient without causing further nausea, pain and discomfort. (KJ/RH).
