AnnotationThe purpose of the Joint Review is to provide an objective assessment of how well people in the London Borough of Croydon are being served by their social services: some people are being served well, and there are prospects for continuous improvement. Although innovative services focus on maintaining people in the community, there is an over-reliance on in-house residential and home care services for older people. Carers and service user groups were concerned about a lack of information on availability of services and eligibility to receive them. Examples of good practice include a "Partners in Care" scheme which monitors small homes caring for a maximum of three people. Priorities for action mainly concern management, but also recommend improving access to service, including ensuring better targeting, provision and monitoring of services for older people. (RH).
