Annotation | The real and perceived legal liability context within which health and human service delivery to older people takes place in the US is discussed from diverse perspectives. An attorney/physical therapist discusses malpractice, professional ethics, quality assurance and risk management. A geriatric nurse and an attorney consider the medico-legal aspects of the use and abuse of bedrails. Other papers cover: negotiated risk agreements; a liability insurance crisis in Florida's nursing homes arising from personal injury litigation; risk management and quality of care concerns; and whether regulation is effective in any strategy for promoting quality of care and quality of life in nursing homes.
