AnnotationThe proposal for a European Code of good practice builds on extensive research carried out in 1997 by the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions. This proposed Code of Good Practice contains guidelines intended to assist employers and others responsible for recruitment and training to productively manage the ageing of the workforce. Specifically the Code covers: learning, training and development; flexible working practices and the modernisation of work; workplace design and health promotion; recruitment; promotion and internal job changes; employment exit and retirement transition; and changing attitudes within organisations. This will help to promote an age-neutral approach to employment and avoid the unnecessary exclusion of workers as they age. (RH).
