AnnotationThere are four views about a reason why education might be related to dementia: cognitive reserve; "use it or lose it"; education as a proxy for other exposures; and diagnostic bias. A matched pairs analysis of subjects from the Swedish Study of Twins showed low education to be a significant risk for Alzheimer's disease (AD), but not necessarily for all dementias. (RH).
