Annotation | From an early age, we learn certain values: children are wonderful; youth is beautiful; maturity means responsibility; old age is ugly and miserable. Such values are dominant in almost every culture: we tend to be attracted to the image of young people, and repelled by that of the old. This paper is based on a lecture by the author in which he examined a number of images of age and discussed their significance. (RH). |
