Annotation	Most residents in care homes are vulnerable, and accept that staff have a duty to duty to protect them, even if this involves losing some of their independence. In some circumstances, it may be appropriate to use some form of restraint. However, restraint must be used carefully. This document includes a risk assessment flowchart; outlines the principles of care relating to residents taking risk; and suggests alternatives to restraint. (RH).
