Annotation | Japan has completed its demographic transition, and has been forced to face the ageing of a substantial proportion of the population before other developed nations. Extreme population ageing has led to increases in the demand for social services for older people and the family, which have far exceeded existing supply of services. This article examines family relations, health services, retirement, and economic well-being of Japan's ageing population. (RH). |
