Annotation | Around 420,000 older people are in receipt of some form of home care, most of whom have very little say in the quality of that care. Involving them in the commissioning of home care services would provide the opportunity to influence the quality of care they receive. This document reports on a conference exploring the issue of quality from the perspectives of service providers, service users, and the Government. Recommendations are made concerning training, management skills and good practice by service providers, as well as collecting the views of hard to reach groups. Although more investment is needed, there is a need to build on the work of those service purchasers and providers who are committed to and enthusiastic about raising the standards of care. (RH). |
