Annotation | Report of the Chief Medical Officer on the state of Scotland's health for the year ended 31 December 2000. This edition is a new format under the auspices of the new Chief Medical Officer, Dr E M Armstrong. To mark the new millennium, its focus is on the trends in Scotland's health over the twentieth century. It still remains to analyse recent changes in morbidity and mortality and their likely causes; and examines behavioural, social, economic and environmental factors which have a bearing on health. Important aspects of health and health services are reviewed, including those relating to older people, as well as more general health issues of particular concern in Scotland are identified. (KJ). |
