AnnotationThis review covers services in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Liberton Hospital, Astley Anslie Hospital, Eastern General Hospital, Ellen's Glen House, and some community services, which form part of the Lothian Universities Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and Lothian Primary Care Trust. The report notes good joint working between health and social work, and good quality clinical care throughout the services. However, delayed discharge is a significant problem. Services that need to be developed or reviewed include: stroke rehabilitation; requirements for NHS respite care and provision of suitable accommodation; and a review of beds and staffing levels for NHS continuing care.
