AnnotationOccupational demography is used to show that the demographic characteristics of the nursing home administrator and the director of the nursing team have an impact on an American facility having an Alzheimer's special care unit. Controlling for 13 organisational and environmental factors, the results show that both the aggregate and dissimilarity measures for elucidation and professional involvement significantly affect the likelihood of whether a nursing home has adopted an Alzheimer's special care unit. The results are discussed in terms of their significance for nursing homes and top management. (RH).
