AnnotationPeterborough City Council is a new unitary authority created in 1998. The purpose of the Joint Review is to assess the extent to which people in Peterborough are well served by the social services. Some are served well; less well served include those older people and their carers needing help or waiting for assessments. Despite major funding constraints, the report identifies evidence of increasing levels of intensive home care and good intermediate care services provided in partnership with the Health Authority around prevention, rehabilitation and hospital discharge. Other examples of good practice identified include a Young Carers' Group and an Asian Carers' Surgery. Priorities for action identified by the review include completing the reshaping of services for older people and adults. (RH).
