Annotation | In Malta, the expectation of life for males is 75, and for females 79, which in large part reflects a higher standard of living and improved health care facilities. The treatment of cardiovascular disease - a major contributor to premature deaths - plays a role in achieving this goal. The article presents a retrospective analysis of the patient population from the start of the local cardiac surgical service in Malta in April 1995 until January 2001. (RH). |
