AnnotationThe author welcomes the new policy initiatives for services for older people in the National Service Framework for Older People (NSF), and describes the attempts being made to turn the plans into reality. However, there are a number of difficulties ahead which could undermine attempts to make the National Health Service (NHS) and social care "person centred". This article includes extracts from the executive summary of the NSF on standards, delivery and milestones, as well as comments and reactions from older people's organisations. (RH).
