AnnotationDecisions made from 1996 to 2000 on 1,375 long-term care placements approved by the London Borough of Greenwich through a multi-disciplinary "panel" are analysed. The paper suggests the need for increased attention to rehabilitation and for residential homes to be able to deal with cognitive disorder. It concludes that attainment of the new national minimum standards for care homes for older people will require improvements in the admissions process. (RH).
