AnnotationThis report highlights major findings of a study commissioned by HelpAge International of a sample of home care programmes (some are pilot projects) in South Korea, Singapore, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Fiji, Mongolia, and Thailand. In this report, home care includes home nursing, domiciliary geriatric medical programmes, and integration with health care systems. The factors and constraints for providing these programmes, and principles of good practice are discussed. The report also aims to raise awareness of population and social trends which point to the need to develop home care services, and to highlight the scope for volunteering in provision of services.
