Annotation | The development of these guidelines followed the principles detailed in the Appraisal Instrument for Clinical Guidelines (http://www.sghms.ac.uk/depts/phs/hceu/form.htm). The guidelines comprise sections on: the need for practice guidelines; definition; why agitation is seen in patients with dementia; assessment; and management. Although no external funding or support was received for the development of the guidelines, it should be noted that members of the Group have received fees as speakers or acting as advisers, or received research grants from named pharmaceutical companies.
