AnnotationIn this Norwegian study, 98 geriatric in-patients and 68 healthy home-dwelling controls of similar age were examined for anxiety as a current emotional state using Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). The scoring of STAI in geriatric in-patients is found to be high, and thus feasible for use in older geriatric patients and controls. Further studies are needed to clarify to what extent this relates to a high prevalence of anxiety disorders. (RH).
