Annotation | Medical audit as a method of improving the standards of patient care was the subject of a Working Party report published by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) in March 1989. Its importance was endorsed in the National Health Service and Community Care Bill (1990). The Research Unit of the RCP, directed by Dr Anthony Hopkins, was set up to explore further different methods of medical audit. This monograph attempts to provide a balanced account of the status of medical audit, highlight its unresolved problems, and emphasise the evolving nature of work in this field. (KJ). |
