Annotation | Twenty participants, aged 62-89 were asked open-ended questions about whey they engaged in playing games, and the meanings attributed. Recurrent themes of meaning were identified, five of which were mentioned by most of the participants: mental and physical fitness, continuity, competition, temporal structure, and belonging. The findings conclude that game-play carries meanings with significant resonance for older people. (KJ/RH). |
