Annotation | The National Care Standards Commission (NCSC) starts its main operational activities under the Care Standards Act 2000 in April 2002. This paper considers proposals for the registration and inspection of resources (the "regulatory framework") to be allocated to each regulated area of health and social care. It considers the cost of this regulatory framework, and how the Commission can be funded. Views are sought by 18 September 2001 on frequencies of inspections and options for fees (as suggested in research by the Personal Social Services Research Unit - PSSRU), and for registration and annual fees. A regulatory impact assessment (RIA) sets out levels of fees proposed for 2002/03, and how these fees would be increased to achieve full cost recovery. (RH). |
