Annotation | Bromley has the largest number of older people (50,250) of any London Borough: some 17% of its population are aged 65+. This Joint Review provides an independent assessment of how well the public is being served by social services locally. Although some are well served, deficits were found in the quality and availability of community care services, e.g. home care and hospital discharge. Examples of good practice noted include: Community House, a one-stop shop advice and resource centre; and Signpost, the Bromley Council Website. Priorities for action highlighted by the Review include: improving access to services; needs-led and outcome focused assessment and care planning; developing better partnerships, for example with other agencies; promoting independence and ensuring safeguards for older people and their carers; and ensuring service provision for older people with mental ill-health meets local needs.
